Our History

  • Started on March 27, 2008 and with the ministry “Galesburg Locomotives”
  • St. Mary’s Living Center for people with disabilities granted us permission to hold monthly services there at no cost (Housed 225 people)
  • Averaged 50 to 70 people every month
  • 2010 hosted out first ‘Bowl-a-thon’ and raised $8800
  • 2010 was the first “Disability Awareness Day” at Standish Park
  • 2011 started a weekly Sunday School class with 3 friends
  • 2011 first meal & service at Calvary Assembly for the Group Homes
  • 2012 started a second monthly service at Calvary Assembly for Group Homes with a main meal
  • 2013 St. Mary’s Living Center closed down & 25 new C.I.L.A’s were opened in Galesburg area
  • 2014 at Special Events new record attendance of over 100 friends
  • 2014 started to outgrow Sunday School class room (15 to 20 friends weekly)
  • 2015 started Tuesday night weekly Chapel Services
  • 2015 gave away 77 Christmas gifts at the annual Christmas Celebration
  • 2016 Chapel Service attendance average grows to 50 to 60 friends & staff
  • 2016 Bowl-a-thon moved to Northgate Lanes in Galesburg with 120 people in attendance
  • 2016 is the 7th year in a row to raise over $7,000!
  • 2016 changed ministry name to “Ability Project” & launches a new website: Ability-Project.com
  • 2016 new church “Camp Ability” startup in August of 2017 at Lake Williamson in Carlinville, IL
  • 2016 “Ability Project” starting the process of a Nation-wide Ministry Outreach!
